Where to find maternity clothes to fit a petite woman?
I cannot find jeans to fit now that I am 14 weeks pregnant! I have not gained too much weight but being so small, just five pounds have made my jeans too tight and very uncomfortable. I have to unbutton them when sitting down! I am now 5'1" with 28 1/8" waist and 33" hips. The only pants I could find that fit before pregnancy (when I was 5'1" with 24" waist and 32" hips) was little girls pants from Old Navy, usually size 14! Sometimes I could find petite pants in adult sizes but they were usually baggy around the waist and WAY too long for me. I went and looked at maternity clothes at the mall and they are all definitely too long and way too big around the waist. I checked at Old Navy for normal womens pants and those are even too big still (they would fit my belly but not my hips and be way too long for me or fit my hips but tight on my belly and be way too long). HELP!!!
I'm not going to lie, it'll be difficult to find a size that's right for you. I"m petite and you are smaller than I was before I got pregnant. I wore my regular clothes for a long time, then just went up one size, then I used something called the Belly Band from Target over my regular jeans. Eventually, I got big enough to wear a pair of size 1 maternity jeans from Gap. They also have zeros. It may seem frustrating right now - I remember crying in a dressing room at Motherhood because my pants were too tight but their pants were WAY too big - but you will eventually get into those maternity pants. To deal with the length, you should look for brands that have Short options or just get the pants hemmed, which I do with all my jeans normally. It takes more time when you're petite, but taking the time to find jeans that work for you really makes it worth it. Good luck!
