Maternity Clothing – Are You Ready For A Wardrobe Change?
I consider myself to be a trendy, young and chic mother. Most people do not see the inside of their friends closets. A look into my closet would give you a birds eye view of the vivid colors and patterns it contains. When I became pregnant I was determined to wear all the wonderful colors and patterns I already had within my closet as long as I could. After going nine months with a growing belly I found that some garments did not have as much stretch as I thought they would. Hence the reason maternity clothing was invented! If I was a seasoned mom I am sure I would have learned this already but, being a trendy, young and chic mother (or so I thought) I may have let me pride slip a little.
Maternity clothing is something I did not want to find myself rummaging around looking for. Low and behold I found myself at six months pregnant and wearing the best pair of stretchy maternity pants and a snug top that flattered my belly holding my precious baby boy. Yep, maternity clothing had taken over my closet. Thank goodness for the internet! It was the easiest and most convenient way to shop. My tired feet and swollen ankles could only last so long in a mall. On the internet I found some of the greatest deals and steals on maternity clothing sites. I was determined to find the best quality at the best price.
After all, if I was going to transition my closet into a maternity clothes haven I had to find the perfect combination of comfort, price and fashion. My search lead me to starting my own business of selling maternity clothing and nursing clothing online, FashionForMommy.com. I found a designer, Annee Matthew, who put all the pieces of a perfect garment together. This was the key to transitioning my closet. From comfortable and sexy pajamas to a dress that can take me out on the town or to a play date, I finally found myself surrounded by a different yet, fabulous wardrobe!
It is so exciting when you find maternity clothes that will work during pregnancy through nursing and still look great when you are back to your pre-pregnancy weight. A closet that can transition is a closet full of quality clothes with the right price tag. Don not get discouraged wondering about what you are going to do with your old duds. You can cash in on your old clothes. How are you going to do this you might ask? Don not have time for a garage sale? I understand where you are coming from. The solution is a consignment store. They will take your gently worn clothes and give you a portion of the profit when they are sold. Now that you have some spare cash you can do some shopping!
Keep in mind that some of the clothes you had in your old closet will still fit in with your maternity clothes. I have become quite fond of layering clothing. With breastfeeding I generally wear a nursing bra, tank, shirt and something to throw on if it is cold. Make sure your new closet is versatile, full of color, patterns and comfortable options. By this time you can look back into your wardrobe and be completely happy with the transition you have made from young, trendy and chic to young, trendy and mother!
