How to Buy Big and Tall Jeans
For many men, finding the perfect pair of jeans can be difficult. I'm not talking about the looks necessarily. For guys, the perfect pair of jeans is as much about feel as it is appearance. For big and tall men, finding a pair of jeans that looks, fits, and feels great is even harder.
Don't worry gentlemen, there is hope when searching for a new pair of jeans, but there are a few things you should consider first. Follow this style guide to help find your perfect pair of jeans:
- When do you plan to wear your jeans? Buying a pair of jeans for work is completely different than buying a pair you plan to wear out to a party or a pub. Relaxed fit might get in the way at work, but is perfect for lounging around the house or for an evening out. Boot-cut and straight leg jeans fit all occasions.
- Faded, washed, and original: With so many different washes, fitting into the current fad is almost impossible. For most men, we aren't even sure what fad is "in." Stick to classic blue jeans and lightly faded jeans, and avoid anything pre-ripped. It's important not to buy several pairs of jeans with the exact same wash and colour. Mix up your wardrobe so that you have a pair of jeans for every situation. Remember, dark is more formal, light is casual.
Find Big and Tall Jeans That Fit Your Body
Big and tall men often struggle to find jeans that fit their body shape and size. If you're shopping for jeans, odds are you won't find what you need at Wal-Mart, Sears, or JC Penny. Knowing your measurements and shopping from a specialty menswear store is often necessary.
If you don't know your waist size and inseam, getting yourself measured is important, especially if you plan to shop for your jeans online.
Waist size is the distance around your torso where you would like your pants to fall. Inseam is the distance from your heel to the point on your crotch where your pants will fall. Some stores may also ask for the rise of your jeans, which is the distance from the top of your inseam to your waist. For big and tall men, having accurate measurements will avoid the headaches and hassle of returning your online purchases.
